Buzzing with Activity!!!

Wedding shopping & preparations are on in full swing... Two months to go!!! The lists are getting lengthier by the day and no matter how much work is accomplished I still feel am wayyyyyyy behind schedule..

I still haven't booked a place for my bridal make-up & mehendi. Am still confused about which make-up studio to pick. Each person I consult comes up with their own recommendations & suggestions. But I gotto take the final call.

Delhi is considered to be the mecca for shopping especially the bridal works. But I am sorry to say that I am somewhat disappointed with what the markets have to offer. Either my taste is remarkably different from the rest of the world or I am not going to the right places. Definitely need some good advice here!! Anyone?????? Specifically am looking for some good churidaar kameez & footwear options!!

Sarees!!!!!!!!!

As I mentioned in the previous post, I picked up two beautiful sarees for myself :) One is in a beautiful turquoise blue color with phulkari embroidery on it in much brighter colours of pink & rust..

"Phulkari, meaning flower work, is a spectacular style of embroidery peculiar to Punjab, and an essential part of everyday life. Almost every ceremony in which women participate is given a touch of addi-tional colour and richness by the use of Phulkari on account of its being considered auspicious and a sign of 'Sohag'.
The embroidery of phulkari and bagh is done in long and short darn stitch, which is created into innumerable designs and patterns. It is the skilful manipulation of this single stitch that lends an interesting and characteristic dimension to this needlework. While the stitch itself is uncomplicated, the quality of the phulkari depends upon the size of the stitch. The smaller the stitch, the finer the embroidery. total effect is that of floral magnificence. It is essentially a feminine craft and very domestic in all its essential features. It is an art because of its capacity to give satisfaction through design and blending of harmonious colours..."





The other saree is a bright green colour on a brocade type fabric, with thick embroidered borders and an embroidered pallu and a whole lot of mirror work.












I'm quite happy with the purchases and so much so that I'm planning to wear one of the sarees for the Sagan ceremony.. :)
The much bigger task accomplished last week was selecting sarees for Mom.... When it comes to shopping there isn't anyone like her in the whole world. Coz she must be the only woman who dislikes shopping, for the simple reason that she doesnt have a choice of her own..can never decide what to purchase and what no to and on top of that she is fussy about fabrics, colors and everything else related that one can think of.. :) So its either Dad or me who has to buy things for her. We definitely love doing it for her but it does get quite irritating, at the same time funny when Ma makes faces for anything & everything that we choose. Anyhow, from whatever limited options available for her we bought a few things and I just hope they all look good on her..

Updates!!

Here I am with some more updates... Shopping & wedding preparations are moving at snail's pace. I know I'm going to end up with a really tough time in the end. But I just can't help it.. There are too many things to take care of...

I have managed to pick up a couple of footwear options from Gurgaon. Also purchased a nice mid-sized purse from myself and I have my eyes set on another one... something on the lines of the bags available here... http://pantaloon.futurebazaar.com/Catalog/Womenswear/Handbags/1003264/1/12

Bought a couple of t-shirts & tidbits from here & there. I was rather disappointed to see a terrible collection of western outfits at most of the outlets here. Anyhow, the hunt is on...

Clutches & Potlis...

I am basically looking for a Clutch bag for the wedding or prewedding functions. Have already purchased a large handbag and a couple of small-tiny purses and was gifted a cute wallet by my bro. :) The only source of confusion here is if I'm going to need a clutch on the D-day or not...

My cousin suggested that instead of a clutch, I opt for an ethnic potli bag with nice bead work. Something like these...

Updates!!

Finally I began scouting the Delhi markets and all the famed stores for the trousseau and other stuffs. Wasn't lucky at all to find anything exciting or even decent for that matter... So I know the task ahead is going to be really really tough. Anyway, here's what I managed to do all these days --
a) Checked out some Lehengas -- they were really really heavy with some extremely heavy & gaudy work that din't go well with me, despite the flat 50% discounts they were offering.

b)There were too many options for Sarees that I ended up getting a headache. :( Anyhow, I did like two sarees for myself -- one was a Bandhini saree with a nice embroidered border and another one was a Georgette saree with a net pallu and brocade blouse plus the colour combination was lovely. Din't buy either of them as I want to check out more options, especially coz I intend to buy not more than two or three sarees.

c) I couldn't derive any benefit out of the sales & discounts on offer, particularly on the western wear coz I intend to lose weight in the coming few months. :( So i'll end up paying more than warranted... Realy pissed off with myself for this!!

d)I seriously wonder wat's wrong with all these footwear shops (or mayb smthing's wrong with me)- I couldn't find a single thing of my liking. Don't know what to do about it. Oh yes, I did like the Pumps at Da Milano but they dint fit my budget. Obviously good things come at a price..Hard luck!!
